The Most Gangsterest R&B Singer

THIS IS A BATTLE OF EPIC PROPORTIONS, at least to me.
This is the Battle of the R&B Gangsters. In THIS corner we have Trey Songz, weighing in at 3 albums deep with the August release of "Ready". Trey seems to pick up more fans each time out. Has anybody ever listened to "I Gotta Make It"? Terrible, but due to his origins in the south and his close association with rappers such as Small-Hoodie Jim Jones, Hottest-Female-Rapper-in-the-Game Ace Hood and Homie-Soon-to-Completely-Eclipse-Him Drake, Trey has come to be a force to be reckoned with in R&B AND Hip Hop..........but is he gangsta?

In THIS corner, we have newcomer Ryan Leslie weighing in with one self-titled album under his belt and one in the oven to to drop Nov. 10. titled "Transition". Ryan Leslie can very well be your new favorite R&B singer. What Mr. Leslie lacks in promotion, he makes up for raw talent and genius. The term "One Man Army" is an understatement. Ryan Leslie not only produces all his music but he plays all the instruments heard on his album. He also produces for a vast line up or artists from Fabolous to Dirty Bol Jim Jones and Biggie #2 Rick Ross. But is he gangsta?

OK! While I may enjoy your music (the tracks wit decent beats AND the "Baby Makers"/"Panty Droppers") but ever since I saw the "I Can't Help But Wait" video the other day for the first time in a while I can't help but laugh. Faces like the one seen above are ANYTHING but gangsta for someone to be considered an R&B thug. R&B thug. Yea. Don't forget that before Trey could dress, he used to rock tank tops aka wife beaters outside like he was 50 Cent or.....or.....Ray J lol. In reference to his music and its gangsta quality, Trey seem like the type that will try to romance you, cry to you, steal somebody's girl and all the typical R&B stuff....but you can't be a thug, even if you rap pretty decent in ya spare time.
What can I say about Mr. Leslie here? He's pretty much THE MAN!! Has one of the hottest production sounds in the industry right now. He's simply amazing. Graduated from Harvard with a degree in Macroeconomics. Ya pimp hand GOTTA be strong to deal in macroeconomics. THATS GANGSTA! He aint tryin to steal nobodys chick and inherit that mans problems. Ryan Leslie will borrow your chick and send her back. YES, hes R&B so YES he does get emotional but he does it in an expensive, classy way without pullin a Ray J (Kneeling and tearing his wife beater in the street, in the rain.). He's simply put he brings back the feel that a lot of late 80's R&B stars gave mixed with a splash of hip hop done well. To give a mental picture of his demeanor I would say think Luther Vandross mixed with Montell Jordon. Yea, now you get what im sayin. Soulful but someone you wouldn't want ya daughter around and fr good reason.

In closing, I find Ryan Leslie to be more gangsta than Trey Songz because he is like the '09 Babyface while Trey Songz is the '09 Keith Sweat. But thats jus MY opinion. lol

Plus can Trey Songz do this? *Vid Below* Didn't think so.

Mr. & Mrs. HOV!

In recent music news, i have come to realize that Beyonce actually has a split personality. This eccentric Sasha Fierce chick, NOT A GIMMICK! I whole heartily believe that Beyonce is a good and perfectly normal person/celebrity that just loves singing and does it amazingly well. On the other hand (similar to Dr. Jakyll and Mr. Hyde or Bruce Banner and The Hulk) Beyonce actually turns INTO Sasha Fierce and doesn't know that shes creepin me out over here. Have you seen the "Sweet Dreams" video? While it grows on me and is a pretty tight song, the video is strange as hell. This all came out of Sasha Fierce's head, mind you. This sultry songstress from the south(That makes songs such as "Halo" and "Crazy in Love" turns into this "Special" space case that makes songs like "Diva" and "Radio". Now I may be being a little over the top in my supposed realization but watch this and tell me that Beyonce probably sees her average day like this:



TELL ME she dont think she levitates out of bed in the morning and struts down the street in a leotard. Not that I would mind if she did. Im just sayin. Since her and Hov got married, she has been ROC'd out of her mind. lol



Speaking of Hov, The Blueprint III has leaked days ago and is now ALL OVER THE PLACE! There was a lot of speculation on the immaculateness of the album ever since the title was announced over a year ago. Fans doubt that it could compare to the likes of the Blueprint 1 or 2. Then "D.O.A." dropped with mixed reviews and the controversy over him pronouncing Auto-Tune to be dead. Niggas heard dat and was like "Yo, Hov got balls on dat one". Then "Run This Town" came out with MORE mixed reviews and brought to MY mind the question of whether at age 39, can Jay still verbally bury most rappers in the game. Then the tracklist leaked like 2 or 3 weeks ago and everybody was excited or pissed due to the amount of features listed. Like just cause a rapper got mad guest appearance on his album means he cant run a track by himself. I figured most would be doin only hooks ANYWAY and even if they wasn't, oh well. Hov still does he thing. I, being a fan of Hip Hop and exquisite lyricism and melodic musical arrangements, can appreciate most of the album. Tight lyrics, beats aint bad and as an overall package its better than a lot of albums out and better than some on the way. Folk are critiquing and not enjoying. RELAX PEOPLE.

Not MY album) Tracks I would say are my favs are "Run This Town", "Hate", "On To The Next One", "Real As It Gets" "Off That", "A Star Is Born", "Venus vs Mars" and "Already Home". Dont mind the list of freshmen on the album J. Cole goes IN on "A Star Is Born". He's somethin to pay attention to. Kid Cudi & J. Cole on do hooks. Dont get me started on what I think about Kid Cudi. Thats for another entry.

ANOTHER FRIDAY!! SWEET BABY JESUS, Its the END of the week once more. Todays events include my grandparents from down souf(th) commin up for the weekend. The Mrs. is down for a meet and greet and plus I get to drag her around today cause I had work yesterday and her sister was draggin her everywhere and I became a jealous boyfriend lol. So, WORD! Girlfriend meeting the other grandparents. The grandparents I have up here already love her. Rev. Grandpop asks about her all the time. He's a gangsta by the way. lol.

The only beef that my overly sensitive grandmother has with my girlfriend is that she covinces me to buy nice clothing that I have to iron. Grandma is convinced that If I iron clothes, My house will burn down. I blame my brother for her attitude cause he burnt a hole in a blanket when he was young. IM NOT HIS KEEPER AND I DON'T WANNA BE WRINKLY ALL MY LIFE SO CHALK IT G-MA, AIGHT? I WILL NOT PURCHASE WRINKLE FREE CLOTHING ANY LONGER UNLESS I JUS GET THAT LAZY so CHILL! P.S. Love you and why do my grandparents keep wearin my hats? lol

In music news today, Wale from D.C. is FINALLY droppin his "Back To The Feature" mixtape that is HIGHLY ANTICIPATED and SEVERLY OVERDUE. According to his Twitter is drops at 7pm-ish tonight. This visit with the grandparents MAY be shorter than planned. lol Stay tuned. ill post the link later tonight.

This is random. Ginuwine got a new album out/droppin NEXT WEEK but I got it here for you TODAY! Entitled "A Man's Thought", Ginuwine says on his myspace that he is a lot wiser than he was in his "Pony" days and he's no longer a "Bachelor". His new songs reflect that growth.

I haven't listened to this album yet but give it a chance. I know a lot of chicks was hatin on Usher's "Here I Stand" because he was married and it showed in his music. This might not be the freak body, lights on, have sex upside down, buckets of sweat, hand me a towel Ginuwine music you're used to, but that don't mean a couple kids won't be conceived off this thing. Aight, so I have been searching the internets for tunes-i can listen to. Since last month, i've been avoiding Eminems "Relapse" album.

Here is my thing with Eminem. I think he is a very nice lyricist. "Renegade" has cemented him as a GREAT in MY eyes. He's also had some other tracks that i've heard that he goes HARD on. The thing is that his singles are TOO FUNKIN WACKY! The single "We Made You" is prime example. He's always done that crap. He puts out wierdo ass songs that never really showcase his ability. I would like him more if he had a healthy middle to his content. Eminem is night and day. One song will be super murderous/cereal killer on steroids rap and then the next song will be so stupid that you consider taking him as serious as someone who works at the carnival aka Not Very.

Despite all that, and me wanting to give J. Coles mixtape a rest before I wear it out, I've have decided to download "Relapse" and give it a try. Im not reccomending it or anything cause im listening to it as I type (He jus said somethin about his mom. THATS new! *sarcasm face*).
That brings me to another issue. There is a song on his album called "Bagpipes from Baghdad" in which he creepily tries to break up Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey and steal her from him. Apparently they used to go out or somethin and it didn't go far. Here is a qoute from Nick Cannon courtasy of Hiphop.popcrunch.com:

Im not a big Eminem fan so im NOT being a "STAN". No pun intended. There are only two people that matter in this story and the black guy isn't one of them. (Isn't Mariah black a lil? Not enough to count).

Mariah DOES have a new album comming out on August 25th called "Memoirs of an Angel" and her first single leaked today which is called "OBSESSED". Nothing to do with the movie. Im hearing that its a response to Em's creepy lil tune. Im bout to listen to it and see whats up wit it. I mean, how could you NOT download somethin wit this picture attached to it.

If you haven't heard of J. Cole yet, I can't blame you, but I CAN tell you one thing. GET ON DAT! J. Cole as I said in my previous entry is the first signee to Jay-Z's ROC NATION Label. Hailing from Fayetteville, NC, this boy hustles HARD! Lyrics are DEFINITELY ON POINT!

He ALSO produced most of his tracks on his "The Warm Up" mixtape that just came out earlier today. Features the popular track that has been on his myspace page for months, "I Get Up", which is an inspirational and soulful story of his hood, his life and a call to those living the street life. Also another self produced banger, titled "Grown Simba", that has a bass line that makes it easy to conjure up disbelief. IT IS AMAZING! On "Just to Get By" he spits over Talib Kweli's "Get By" and goes in with everything he's got and makes it seem so effortless. He also placed an old track entitled "Lights Please" which he says is the track that Jay-Z heard before requesting he be flown to New York to meet with the almighty Hov.

Ok, so this is a re-cap of "Friday, Whuddup"'s events. The dinner wit my girlfriend and her mom on her moms birthday went nice. Her sister is nothin but TROUBLE lol. I say that in the lightest of manner. She passed a note off to the waiter and I turn to my girl and say "Why is your sister tryin to get at the waiter? Shes making bedroom eyes at dis dude?" lol. Turns out she was jus asking the waiter for a special birthday dessert for their mom. This whole family is wild tho. The birthday girl was being a diva and tryin to play her own children out. ME, not being one of her children, just sat back and cracked up.

WHICH BRINGS US TO FRIDAY NIGHT, AFTER HOURS!!!

Me and my friends (James aka whore #1 and Sean aka whore # 2) Decided to play Call Of Duty 4 on Xbox 360.

Being as though they are whores as previously stated, when we hang out, they usually have chicks on deck. One time, months ago when I brought MY xbox to the gathering, James had some chick he was tryin to knock off (or HAD knocked off or was CONTINUOUSLY KNOCKING OFF) present at game night. Everyone who plays xbox has a sign-in name they play with on the system. James' jumpoff wanted to play. So she picks up a controller and signs into the game using the name "JamesBoo". That was the last time I brought my xbox to the game night.

So last night, unanimous decision has me bringing my xbox to the game night again. I get there and James' GIRLFRIEND is there. Mind you, it has been months since that flashback and my mind is SO not focused and somethin so small as the names on my xbox. We start up and all start signing in. As we all scroll through the names, "JAMESBOO" appears on th screen.............SHE NOTICES.........
James Girlfriend: "Hmmm, who is Jamesboo? I wonder."

Me, James & Seans collective thought: (Oh shit!)

Me and Sean muffle and stifle laughs for bout 2 min and then BUST OUT LAUGHIN. He was caught but tried to say that SHE had made it a long time ago. Niggas think they slick.

Moral of the Story: Don't Let Ho's Play Your Xbox. Its the worst thing you could ever do. *Disinfects controllers to get rid of HO germs*

Friday, WHUDDUP?

OK, so after waking up at about 1pm-ish, I have decided to give yall the VERY FIRST ENTRY in my Random Events Series of my Blog. The event of the day is "The Dinner Party".

My and my girl have been best friends for about 4 years and due to popular demand and a series of complicated, interested and just plain "Oh sh!t" moments, WE ARE NOW COUPLE STATUS, 4 months and goin strong!!!! *Accepted applause* lol.


Her family already was already fond of lil ol loveable ME :) and as infiltrate the ranks of her fam, I attend more events. THIS SH!T RIGHT HERE, THO! THIS SHI!T RIGHT HERE, N!GGA! I consider THIS to be BIG. Its mom dukes birthday and im invited to her dinner. *Accepts invitation as tho it were a milk chocolate oscar*. Despite my girl saying that her mother is easy to win over and loves everybody, I consider it a collosal victory and intend to sing Boyz II Men "Song for Mama" at her dinner.

I now await the return of the beloved Mrs. from work and I starve in the process so its lookin like PB&J is on my menu in the meantime. Most Anticipated: 6-12-09

First order of Business: I am a Hip-Hop-A-Holic and when I get hooked on an artist I like, I demand more music ASAPitty (Like RIGHT NOW-ISH....please). 2 fairly new artists that I can't seem to get enough of lately (literally. *shows withdrawal symptoms*) and they are J. Cole of Fayetteville, NC (Jay-Z's first Signee to the newly established Roc Nation label) and Wale of Washington D.C.(Interscope signee that will actually make it past the three headed monster[Dr. Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent]Roadblock). 2 very lyrical cats. Lyrics > Swag & skinny jean anyday. lol

Both have mixtapes that I have been waiting on for *stares at watch* MONTHS now. J. Cole's follow up to his 2008 "The Come Up" mixtape, entitled

"The Warm Up"

is due Monday the 15th.

Wale's "Back to the Feature"

(follow up to last summers Sienfeld themed and sampled "Mixtape About Nothing") should be dropping very soon as well. According to Wales twitter on June 10th, the mixtape that was originally slated for sometime this past winter is now FINISHED FINALLY!

So I expect that on my desk(top) by Monday morning as well as good brotha J. Coles tape or kneecaps WILL be blown off with Nerf guns<-----(Vaild Threat).
